Jazz musicians from around the world will descend on la ville lumière (the City of Light) once again for the fourth annual International Jazz Day on April 30, 2015.

The event will run all day, and include diverse events from workshops, to masterclasses, panels, and performances taking place across all 20 districts of Paris.

The highlight of every International Jazz Day is always the All-Star Global Concert, which brings together some of the brightest stars in Jazz to perform on the same stage. Taking place at UNESCO HQ in Paris and directed by pianist John Beasley, this year’s concert is sure to be one for the history books with performers like Herbie Hancock, Hugh Masekela, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Al Jarreau, Dianne Reeves, Ravi Coltrane, Femi Kuti, Wayne Shorter, Lee Ritenour, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Marcus Miller due to make an appearance at the event.

Paris has played host to a jazz tradition spanning back almost a full century, making it the perfect host for this year’s event. The city also hosted UNESCO’s General Conference in November 2011, where April 30th was first declared International Jazz Day. Just 6-months later, UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz spearheaded over 100 events all over the world for the first international jazz day. And even though Turkey played host in 2013, and Japan in 2014, jazz fans all over the world still organize events in their local communities to celebrate this historic day. For 2015, almost all 196 U.N. member states have events planned in celebration of jazz.
